Coach Brian grew up in Santa Monica and has a lifelong passion for swimming. He spent 13 years swimming competitively as an age grouper and Senior, with some of the most exciting moments being qualifying for Junior Nationals in four events and making finals in the 200 Fly. His love for the sport led him to swim and play water polo at Cal State Long Beach and UC Davis, where he even qualified for NCAA Division 2 Nationals. He earned a BA in English from the University of California, Davis.

With over 30 years of coaching experience in Southern California, including a notable stint at TSM from 2011 to 2014, Coach Brian has worked with numerous clubs, such as Palisades/Malibu YMCA, Canyons, CCAT, and Swim Torrance. Brian enjoys coaching swimmers of all ages and skill levels. His practices are designed to be engaging, challenging, and enjoyable, incorporating stroke technique, race pace swimming, and dryland activities such as yoga.

Swimming runs in Coach Brian’s family! He met his wife Lisa while lifeguarding on the beautiful beaches of Santa Monica. They are proud parents of two daughters, Leah, 26, and Quincy, 22, both of whom swam club and competed in college at UC Davis and UC Santa Cruz. They also have three dogs—two golden retrievers who love the water, and Wilson, who prefers to stay dry, even pouting in the bathtub! Wilson is named after a volleyball from a movie and a former swimmer. In his free time, Coach Brian enjoys writing poetry and training for triathlons.
